Start Up Studio
The West Studios ‘Start Up Studio’ was set up for Chesterfield College students looking to set up or continue on their own businesses as an alternative to attending university. Our first year, 2016-2017 brought Rosie Perrett and Bethany Cartwright into the West Studios Community. Both specialised in ceramics, made great headway in setting up their own businesses and developing further as artists within the old headmasters study. Now, both Rosie and Beth have moved over to being full tenants within the shared studios.
Rosie, who finished her Art and Design Foundation Diploma in June 2016, creates free flowing, shell-like forms on a commission basis. She is using this year to develop her interest in ceramics and build on her skill set with the support of West Studios and her old tutors within College.
Beth, who studied Art Foundation, creates personified collections of animals. Her focus for the year is to develop other similar collections for exhibitions and small retailers.
